Saturday 12th Back to
sea – Norwegian Sun
Another 3 dorm-mates arrived in the
middle of the night and were still sleeping when we checked out at 10am. J went
off to finish off the museums while I vegged out in the lounge. She made it
back at noon and we set off by bus to the cruise terminal. Boarding was pretty
slow but we made it onboard at 2pm and reported to the buffet.
Rosenburg Palace
By the time we had unpacked it was
time for the boat drill, which took 14 minutes. We set about getting raffle
tickets from the spa, casino, internet office and some of the shops. The draws
started at 6pm and for once neither of us won anything in the spa draw.
Norwegian have a system of
freestyle dining, which means that guests dress casually and eat whenever they
choose (within a set mealtime). We enjoy this approach, largely because we can
get a table for 2 and eat at our own speed. We were surprised to find lobster
on the menu and I was happy that they have lamb shanks as a permanent item. So happy that I had both . . and then the
assistant waitress dropped another lobster on each of us without so much as a
“by your leave”.
After dinner we attended more
raffle draws at the shops and then took in the welcome show (the usual song and
dance stuff plus a magician who seemed to poke swords through his girlfriend
and a bloke from the audience). Thence off to the nightclub, not because Hannah
has rubbed off on us but because they had some more raffles. And . . . finally
. . we won something!! It was announced as a “work of fart donated by the art
gallery” and consists of a small numbered print with a certificate of
authenticity. There is also a free entry ticket in some jackpot draw.
On the subject of Hannah, she is
our latest blog reader and seems to have forgiven us for describing as “scatty”. Maybe we should ask to
see her blog to see what she says about us? Hi Hannah :o) By the way, we had 80
page hits the other day!
