Monday 6 February
Some very slow starters. Rain held off so we took the opportunity to clean up ourselves and the clothes. Waiting for them to dry before we wander down to the hotel to get the blog up. J has prepped all the photos. The UFO clouds were back this morning.
We got back from the hotel to find Gordon (Simon Peter hence) had caught the most humungously ginormous salmon ever. How big? No much bigger. Try 27 lbs! This after all the Argies and Chileans had been up for the weekend and caught bugger all (probably drank too much) and he was fishing for all of 15 minutes before he hooked this monster. I mean this is a BIG fish and it went handsomely round more than 20 people for dinner. Just to complicate things – Colin had bought a whole sheep (and a largish one at that) and barbequed it for dinner. And we are crossing into Argentina tomorrow so we can’t take any across.
The day trippers got back after another foray into the national park among the mountains. Tim went crazy and RAN 31km up and down to tick off all three objectives in one day. He seemed none the worse for the experience.
Last look at these mountains
