15/1 Foz de Iguazu

Sunday 15 January Iguazu

Only half a day drive today. Stopped for 90 minutes at lunchtime at a huge hypermarket. On to the campsite which is fantastic. Can only be faulted for slippery tile floor in toilet blocks. Lovely grass for tents and a big cooking area adjacent to covered outdoor area. Hammocks pool etc.

Spent the afternoon researching flights to Florida and boats to Spain. And Disneyworld!! We were tired of the uncertainty of getting back to Brazil. Heard about the Costa boat (3000 people) which went aground and half sank just off Rome. Incredible. And the captain fled while there were still passengers in the water and others missing and trapped below decks!

The cricket team seems to have walloped India but no news on the baby front L We had our hopes pinned on a result over the weekend.

A lot of the youngsters took the short bus ride to Paraguay this afternoon. Some went in the other direction and had a sneak preview of Argentina. Consensus was that Paraguay lacked everything except angry looking hulks with dangerously large guns prowling the streets. Chemists were the only shops open and each had an armed guard. They were very happy to be back in Brazil. Dan the Sax headed off into the interior in pursuit of some relative who had initially agreed to meet him but had not been in touch for some time. He wasn’t back by midnight.

There was a late flurry of excitement with some reported movement on the maternity front but no definite progress.
