Sunday 13 October At Sea
Quick toast before stretch and the cycle class. The boat was really rolling and I felt a bit unsteady and queezy on the bike. Then we tried deck quoits and did well but not quite finishing off. Attended the lecture on Architecture which was very interesting, tracing the transition from Greek to Roman and the development of arches, vaults and domes. Illustrated with slides of many of the structures we have already seen. We have been sailing between various Greek islands for the past few days (Lesbos again) but have now broken out into the open waters north of Egypt. No port today so no internet and lots of free time. We have arranged to meet the Canadians for afternoon tea.
We got back from dinner to find invites from the captain to a cocktail session for Gold to Platinum members of the loyalty program. We have only just made Silver so why invite us? Lost the Pub Quiz by 1 point and lost a tiebreak with the Canadians at midnight. Nearly frightened the barstaff to death by ordering drinks. Had Mai Thai and a Frozen Strawberry Diaquiri. Could easily get used to this. Learned that Mark the Sports/Quiz/Weather man has got suspected appendicitis and is going to be offloaded tomorrow. Poor chap. Got back to find gold badges on our beds – looks like we made Gold membership already!
