Friday 11th November Istanbul – Cold and wet
Stretch class. Wanted to listen to the sail in commentary but there was a COLD wind. Stood inside with the door open. Worked well. There was only us at deck quoits, so very quick game which J let C win. Not many at trivia but we won. Lunch in pub. Ashore briefly. There were 2 parallel afternoon trivia on different floors (Jess really having a bad couple of days). We each played in one. C won with the usual team. Less lucky in the evening – we insisted that China has 2 time zones , which we were told in the pub quiz in Chengdu – turned out there is only one official zone. We lost by one point. We took to our welcome champagne in the evening and didn’t get back to the late night session. Toasted 11.11pm on the 11/11/2011 in the cabin in the Dardenelles. Didn’t stay awake long enough to see the monuments behind Gallipoli.
Talking about favourite cities over dinner. Decided our favourite city would be wherever the Cunard ship is. The ideal cruise would stay about 4 days in each port then move on. Its just so comfortable (ok luxurious) and convenient and cheap.
