Tuesday 15 November Windswept in Alex
Didn’t make any gym today. First thing we learned was the wind is still blowing and we are still in Alex. Next, we are in Situation Yellow . . . Nora Virus is rampant. Stephie would have been one of the first. We couldn’t go ashore because Customs have signed us off (and we are out of Egyptian pounds anyway). We learned that Mark is recovering well after surgery.
A day of trivia and shows. We attended the lecture on Princess Diana’s death, the Murder Mystery which we won again (not unexpectedly since it was the same show and same questions) with the Canadians. We had sit-down lunch in the restaurant and then came first (J) and second (C) in the Pictionary contest. We then tied afternoon trivia against the Jenny Craig Rejects team. We thought we had the tiebreak in hand because the question related to the number of life rafts and Derek is a sea captain. But he got it badly wrong and the other team was 2 closer. Bugger.
Early start to dinner so as to get to the Captains Cocktails for hard-core Cunard clients (lol) and then on to the early trivia and the Irish song and dance show. We finally left Alexandria about 7.30pm – 24 hours late. The Olympia stop has already been cancelled. We came second with the Canadians (don’t they just love us) in the late night trivia.
